In a move likely in the works for months, Stampin’ Up has announced that they are discontinuing the Sizzix Big Shot and also are replacing Sizzix as the manufacturer for their dies. Stampin’ Up’s new dies will be a slightly different die style than the previous ones.

Why is Stampin Up discontinuing the Big Shot?

First up, big news about our poor Stampin’ Trimmer… we’re discontinuing it! There’s been a problem both with the availability and the quality of the refill blades, and it’s time to cut ties there and move on.

What is the difference from the Big Shot to the Big Shot Plus?

Both the Big Shot and Big Shot Plus are great quality die cutting machines. They’re both an investment as well. However, if you have room for it, we’d recommend the Plus. The platform is bigger, you’re not limited to die or embossing folder size since it works with larger dies.

What dies Can you use with Sizzix Big Shot Plus?

The Big Shot machine and it accompanying die or folder, is made for use with the Sizzix product library including Bigz, Thinlits, Framelits, Textured Impressions, Texture Fades and Impresslits Embossing Folders, with the exception of dies and embossing folders wider than 6” (A5).

With the Big Shot Plus being a manual machine, you will use the hand crank to move your materials through it. No worries, though, because the crank is padded and super comfy to use.
