Ventile is a long staple cotton fabric of the highest quality. It was developed in World War II for high altitude clothing for the RAF. It is a natural fibre naturally, soft, windproof and incredibly hard wearing.
Who invented Ventile?
Ventile was invented in the late 1930s at the Shirley Institute, a cotton research centre in Manchester that also developed the tog measurement for insulation. Its original purpose wasn’t clothing but fire hoses.
